Alison's story:

I have been dancing for almost my whole life!

And when not dancing I work in holistic well-being. I am a clinical hypnotherapist and teach yoga, mediation and provide reiki healing to help people get back into balance and harmony and live their best lives.

Dancing can be another form of healing of course as social dancing brings more movement and exercise, more fun and smiles and more friendship. The research on the proven benefits of social partner dancing is pretty overwhelming!

I started ballroom dancing as a child. I completed lots of exams and won several competitions.

Over 30 years ago, I walked into my first salsa club.  I have been dancing salsa ever since! 😊

Then few years later I watched a Tango show performance from a troupe on a world tour from Argentina. Whilst watching the performance I decided that I was going to dance tango. I packed my bags and moved to London in search of Tango. I have been dancing tango ever since too.

When I lived in New Zealand, I twice won the NZ tango competition and twice had the honour and privilege to represent NZ dancing in the semi-finals of the Tango World Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I have been teaching social partner dancing for over 20 years and love to help make dancing accessible and fun for everyone no matter what your natural ability, experience or style of learning.

In addition to teaching dance, I have taught in many other areas over the last 30 years and have a Post Graduate Certificate in Professional Education.

I have taught nursing, midwifery, management and leadership, specialist workshops and clinical skills, yoga, meditation, hypnobirthing and antenatal education. This breadth of experience helps me to understand the needs of each student and to help you to learn in a way that is most enjoyable and helpful for you as an individual.

The beauty of learning social partner dancing is that there is no exam to be sat or deadline to be met. There is no standard to be passed.

Only joy and fun to be had!

You can learn as quickly or as slowly as suits you.

You do not have to be a fabulous dancer to be able to enjoy the dance, the music and the friendships.

As a teacher I help students learn the moves and techniques that will help you to enjoy dancing and will mean other dancers enjoy dancing with you.

Find a teacher that you enjoy learning with and a dance and style that you enjoy dancing.

And then enjoy the endless, fun and friendship-filled journey! 💗
